New Fly Rods from Albright
A-5 NS Series
Albright has narrowed the new A-5 assortment to 3- through 7-weight, a range they feel best represents how this series of trout rods should be used. Each of these 5-piece fly rods offers high line-speed, travel convenience and a quality finish. The low-profile, tapered, tip-over-butt ferrules provide a “one-piece” feel when casting, the company says. The IM7 graphite is strong and light. The A-5’s progressive action walks the fine line between long-casting power and up close presentation, while hard alloy stripping guides contain SIC (silicon carbon) rings which provide years of smooth casting and stripping. The snake guides are lightweight hard chrome. The reel seat is a natural grain mahogany wood insert with a machined anodized nickel silver hardware and up-locking fittings. Each rod comes with a Cordura-covered hard case and rod sock for added protection. MSRP: $189.99.
XXT Series
Albright worked with legendary saltwater angler Lou Tabory to improve action and performance for their new XXT series of fly rods. The new rods are now lighter and stronger, utilizing the new IM8 graphite along with a cross-weave carbon scrim. The progressive taper loads quickly at the tip with a smooth transfer to the mid-tip, easily turning over large flies. They improved the strength in the butt section by adding a cross-weave scrim, ensuring a light-weight yet durable fly rod. The hardened titanium-bridged strippers incorporate super-strong SIC rings for long life, and oversized hard-chrome snakes and tip-tops promise longer casts. Each rod comes with a proper balanced fighting butt, with the added protection of composite on the ends of the cork handle for a longer life span. The reel seat is made from heavy-duty, machined, anodized aluminum with double up-locking hardware. Each rod in this series comes in a Cordura-covered hard case for added protection along with a cloth rod sock. XXT Series rods are priced at $229.99.
