“We Bought the CHEAPEST FLY ROD At Walmart—Will It Catch Trout?”
“In which Jon and Steve go halfsies on the Cortland Silver Stream fly rod and reel combo at Walmart just to see if they can actually catch trout on it. The total cost of the fly rod was under $40 and with the addition of some beadhead nymphs (also from Cortland) they went fishing for $45.
Technically a cheap fly rod should be capable of catching fish, but they soon find out why fly rods are typically more expensive than $50. Even so, a good time was had on the Chattahoochee River, and a good experiment with a cheap fly rod was undertaken.
Let us know in the comments below if you’ve ever fished with this Cortland rod or anything like it. What was your experience? Catch any fish on it?”
