The Matuka

Producer: McFly Angler

“The Matuka fly is a streamer created almost entirely with hackle feathers. It boasts a large side profile while still being extremely lightweight. Comprised of only two feathers and some thread and wire, this will cast like a dream, yet look like a large baitfish swimming in the water. With a little digging on the internet, I found it was originally created in New Zealand and wasn’t introduced to Western anglers until around the mid-70s. That is 50-plus years of testing. With it still being effective, I would call this a classic streamer that not only looks great, but catches fish to boot.”
