More on the Death of Stan Bogdan
In this morning’s New York Times, Mitch Keller writes about the famed reelmaker who died this week at the age of 92. “In fly fishing, in particular fly fishing for the mighty Atlantic salmon, owning a Bogdan reel signals high seriousness about the sport and, not infrequently, a fair amount of disposable income.”
Dean Shalhoup’s obituary in the Nashua Telegraph, Bogdan’s hometown newspaper, notes that “even perhaps ahead of taking part in the very sport he all but revolutionized with his skill and craftsmanship, was his love of simply hanging out and swapping stories with old fishing buddies.”
