New Fly Rods from Ross
Rx Rod Series
The new 4- piece Rx is Ross‘s latest mid-priced fly rod series and it clearly won some fans at September’s IFTD show. The rods have a deep amber finish with silver accents, and the reel seat is carbon fiber with anodized-aluminum hardware. The Rx graphite design is a “fast-action progressive taper,” which the company says allows you to feel the rod load no matter what amount of line you have out. Each Rx rod comes with a cordura rod case and a lifetime warranty. The grip is hand-shaped premium cork in half wells on 3 though 6-weight ($299) and a full wells grip with fighting butt on 6 though 8-weight ($319).
Diamond (women’s)
The Diamond series fly rods are built on the Rx premium fly rod blanks, but they have been customized for female anglers by reducing the diameter of the cork handle by approximately 25 percent. This 4-piece rod series has a burgundy finish with nicely appointed silver accents, but Ross has gone a step further by embedding an elegantly feminine imitation diamond at the base of the rod blank. The reel seat is matching carbon fiber with anodized-aluminum hardware, and the handle is hand-shaped from premium grade cork. The proprietary Rx graphite design is a fast action taper that Ross says rivals the most expensive rods on the market. Each Rx rod comes with a cordura rod case and a lifetime warranty. The grip is hand-shaped premium cork in half wells on 3- though 6-weight ($299) and a full wells grip with fighting butt on 6- though 8-weight ($319).
