How to Tie a Euro-Style Golden Stonefly Nymph

Tim Flagler demonstrates how to tie a Euro Golden Stone pattern, using an Orvis Tactical Barbless Jig Hook in size 12 with a black 1/8” slotted tungsten bead.  Because it’s tied on a jig hook with a slotted bead, this Euro Golden Stone will ride hook point up, making it less likely to get snagged and lost to the bottom.

Hook: Orvis Tactical Jig hook, sizes 12-16.
Bead: Slotted tungsten bead, 1/8-inch, black.
Weight: .015 lead-free round wire.
Thread: 6/0 or 70 Denier, wood duck, yellow or light brown.
Rib: Ultra Wire, size BR, gold. Tails: Sili legs, nymph, barred pumpkin.
Body: Pheasant-tail fibers, golden yellow.
Collar: Australian possum dubbing, golden stone.
Adhesive: Sally Hansen Hard-As-Nails.
Tools: Needle-nose pliers, dubbing brush.
