Video Hatch: Stu Apte and the Citrus Queen

Among the gems from the IGFA video library is this video from before the days of graphite fly rods and poling platforms. Stu Apte, who contributed as much as anyone else to the techniques of fighting large fish on fly rods, hops on an outboard a boat with the Florida Citrus Queen, hooks a tarpon, inserts a stiffener in his fiberglass fly rod, and gaffs and releases a tarpon of about 70 pounds. There’s also footage of a true monster fish inserted into the story.
