Western Rise, New Fly Fishing & Mountain Apparel Company, Launches Inaugural Line

Design driven by mountain culture, with the performance demanded by all those called to the wild.

(March 30, 2015) Western Rise—technical and versatile apparel to fit your dynamic mountain adventures—launched their inaugural line today.

Designed in Colorado, by fly fishing guides, ski instructors, mountain bikers, climbers and hikers, Western Rise inherits a timeless aesthetic while delivering advanced performance demanded by all those called to the wild.

“Our mountain adventures have become as varied and dynamic as the terrain in which it thrives—morning fly fishing floats followed by afternoon mountain bike laps, bouldering or backcountry exploration,” says Will Watters, Western Rise founder. “When we set out to create apparel that met the demands of this lifestyle, we were searching for something different. So we decided to reexamine the design and support outdoor apparel could offer from the ground up.”

With serious attention to craftsmanship and function, Western Rise’s inaugural line introduces an old west classic style to a modern advantage—DryRise—advanced hydrophobic water-wicking fabric.

Constructed to keep water off your skin and out of your clothes, Western Rise’s new DryRise

technology withstands water, microbials and the sun. “From yarn construction to weave, everything has been designed to keep you dry and comfortable, whether you’re on the river or the trail,” says Kelly Watters, Western Rise founder.

Featuring Western Rise’s Ultra DryRise fabric, the Hartsel Henley ( MSRP $65) repels water, wicks sweat, resists microbials and blocks UV. With a mesh draining pocket, four-way stretch and flat seams, the Hartsel Henley is a go-to shirt for backcountry trips or a week on the road.

Offering exceptional water resistance during all your mountain explorations, the Bodie Buttondown (MSRP $79) features Western Rise’s signature Mountain Peak fly storage pocket, a mesh draining pocket, a shirttail hem that tucks in or out—for ease of use with waders—and active sleeves—for an across-the-back casting stretch.

Other apparel items in the new line include the Pioneer Pop-Over (MSRP $85), the Holy Cross Henley (MSRP $65), the Bitter Creek Anorak (MSRP $299) and the Granite Camp Pants (MSRP $99) and Grante Camp Shorts (MSRP $69).

“At Western Rise, we believe that you don’t have to choose functionality or style. Whether around the campfire or riding backcountry roads, our apparel is designed to reflect both,” says Will Watters.

The result, heritage design and a truly technical fabric in one—fit for a true mountain lifestyle.
