Tippets: Midges and Warming, Kamchatka Flights, Belize Permit Poaching
- Even the slightest increase in water temperature could disrupt the midge life cycle in Minnesota and in the process eliminating a large portion of that region’s trout diet. In Toronto, officials are worried that the lack of snow will prevent the normal sediment cleansing the run-off provides to rocks important during spawning season.
- Vladivostok Air will resume its Anchorage to Kamchatka flight this summer making the peninsula known for its legendary trout accessible (to a degree) once again to American anglers. The flight was stopped in 2005 due to low passenger turnover.
- Irrefutable images of permit poached in the Ambergris Caye, Belize area that have surfaced were emailed to Belize Fisheries Department. So far, no action has been taken.
