“Low Card Deals”
Tim Schulz thought that his friend Warren, equipped with only a woolly bugger, two zug bugs, two prince nymphs, a muddler minnow, and three large royal wulffs for a very technical hatch on Michigan’s Escanaba River, was dead-in-the-water. “Warren went on to explain that when he arrived at the river, I was busy landing a small trout. Not wanting to bother me, he headed upstream and began fishing above an old log that was a fixture in the river. The wind was gusting in the downstream direction, so Warren attached a big bushy Royal Wulff to his stumpy tippet and let the gale do most of the work.”
