Banana River’s No Motor Zone Harbors Spooky, Large Fish
Even without trophy-sized redfish, the Banana River No Motor Zone (“NMZ”) would be an interesting place to spend the day.
But redfish there are. Paddlers not only do not have to worry about their wake-producing brethren, but can enjoy stalking large redfish as well as black drum and speckled trout. And Mark Hatter of Fly Fishing in Saltwaters believes that winter is the best time given the larger amount of time in which fish are active. Get out there early with your 7-wt, your best stealth skills, and your ‘yak and enjoy as sunrise gives way to feeding fish.
