Invasives That Slap You In the Head
If you’re going to read one article about the “carp invasion” this year, it should be Ian Frazier’s “Fish Out of Water” in the latest issue of The New Yorker. “Possibly, these carp will change large parts of our national watersheds forever. We may be infected with a virus for which there is no cure.” (Thanks to Robert Tomes for this link.)
Frazier, by the way, is the author of The Fish’s Eye, an excellent collection of essays on fishing and the outdoors that as of this morning can be purchased on Amazon for under $5.
