Fly Fishing People: Dan Blanton on Del Brown
One of the more memorable days I have spent guiding was when Dan Blanton and Del Brown fished the Marquesas with me back in the late 1980s. Del, of course, passed away almost four years ago, but Dan wrote a tribute to him several years ago that he’s revived on his Web site. If you care to delve into a little history about Del Brown and how he came to catch 513 permit on fly, it’s a great read. There are some great old photos of Del here, including Del with his first permit (Guanaja, Honduras) and with his 41-pound, 8-ounce 8-pound-tippet record on Steve Huff’s skiff.
