Fly Tying Tip: Head Cement Lids
Jars of head cement can be a real pain, particularly when they get a bit older and the lid gets gummed up. Also unscrewing the cap dipping your bodkin in and applying the cement can be fairly time-consuming having to then screw the lid back on tight enough to seal takes even more time. Salvation however may await right in your refrigerator in the form of certain condiment bottles. Many have lids that are the same size and with the same threads as head cement bottles. Before screwing one on to the head cement however I’d recommend cleaning it thoroughly with warm water, then drying it with a paper towel.”
