George Hommell

A flats fishing pioneer, George F. Hommell Jr. was a much-sought-after guide based in Islamorada, Florida. An early champion of fishing conservation and ethics, he was a founding member of several organizations, including the Bonefish & Tarpon Trust, and chaired the president’s committee on protecting the nation’s marine resources. He cofounded World Wide Sportsman, one of the first great destination fishing travel agencies. In 2015, George was inducted posthumously into the International Game Fish Association’s Hall of Fame.
