- Boulder police have nabbed one of the four persons involved in a rash of fly shop thefts. The group stole 13 fly rods worth $11,500 from Boulder area fly shops.
- The 2012 Fly Fishing National Championship will be held October 18 – 20, 2012 in Bend, Oregon. Though anglers must qualify at a regional championship to participate, there are ample opportunities for spectators and volunteers.

- Oregon public land managers, with help from the National Park Service, have embarked on a study to determine how much new access to allow in the Upper Rogue River area.
