Upon the retirement of founders Bob and Nelda Border, Hareline Dubbin, Inc. has been acquired by Bill Keough, grower-processor of premium natural fly-tying feathers.

Hareline Dubbin Finds New Owner

MENDON, Mich. – Bill Keough, grower-processor of premium natural fly-tying feathers, has acquired Hareline Dubbin, Inc., Monroe, Oregon upon the retirement of Hareline Dubbin’s founders, Bob and Nelda Borden. The sale price is undisclosed.

To be known as Hareline Dubbin LLC, the firm will be headed by Keough and dairy farmer/businessman Ale Riedstra, both of Mendon, Michigan.

Keough has been a member of the fly fishing industry for nearly 40 years, developing a genetic strain of hackle used worldwide by fly tiers. The two firms shared many of the same customers and are planning to expand their dealer base.

Founded in 1981 as a home-based business offering just 12 colors, Hareline Dubbin evolved to an 18,000-square foot facility producing thousands of fly-tying products including threads, dubbing materials, chenille, feathers, hair, tinsel, beads, eyes, hooks and tools used by both commercial and hobby fly tiers.

“The transition has been seamless and the entire Oregon-based staff is staying on board. Marcos Vergara continues as operation manager while Darian Hyde and Tracy Peterson will man the order desk phones. Everyone from those in the warehouse to those packaging the orders has worked to keep the day-to-day operations on task and the orders flowing out the door as quickly and efficiently as possible,” said Keough.

New to the fly-fishing industry, Riedstra – founder of four dairies, a construction business and two truck dealerships – brings business expertise to the partnership.
