Title: Public Relations and Communications Manager

Employment Status: Full-time
Location: Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area
Position Description and Responsibilities:
This position requires a talented individual to manage and execute public relations and communications:
- Serves as the primary contact for all media relations efforts; creates and builds relationships with appropriate media contacts to generate significant coverage for BTT in consumer, trade, local, and online media outlets
- Works with BTT staff to develop story angles / content in order to proactively contact the media with story ideas, interviews and videos
- Manages all social media (blog, Facebook and Twitter) and website content
- Develops press releases, videos, monthly newsletters, invitations and flyers, presentations and other communications materials for external and internal audiences
- Works closely with the Director of Development and Communications and the Marketing Manager to help shape, develop and provide guidance for PR and communications, as well as special projects
- Integrates public relations/communications activities into overall marketing campaigns to support organizational
objectives - Acts as primary staff liaison and manager of communications and press activities for BTT events (e.g. fundraisers, BTT Symposium)
- Serves as manager and consulting editor for annual Bonefish and Tarpon Journal
Supplemental Duties & Responsibilities:
- Represents BTT at local and national events and shows
- Occasional local and international travel for story opportunities (film and print)
- Event and Committee Management
Qualifications:
- Strong written skills are required
- Experience in videography and video editing
- Excellent listening and communication skills and the ability to be a strong collaborator with co‐workers, board members, and external stakeholders
- Strong understanding of integrated communications and how it can strengthen the brand and influence perception among key stakeholders
- Self‐motivated, comfortable and effective working in a fast‐paced, deadline‐oriented environment
- Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, marketing, communications or related field preferred
- Previous communications and/or PR experience
- Interest in fishing and fisheries conservation preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, website and blog content, videography and photography, video editing, and event management preferred
