434,000 Trout Destroyed Because of Didymo Fears
Wilson Ring of the Associated Press reports this morning that 434,000 trout fingerlings destined for the Great Lakes will be destroyed because of fears that they could bring didymo, an invasive algae, along with them. The Bethel Hatchery, located in Vermont, was inundated during Tropical Storm Irene and contaminated by water from the White River.
