Permit of a Lifetime
Brett Prettyman of the Salt Lake Tribune shares a happy fishing report from angler Peter Rigstad. On a trip to the Yucatan Peninsula, Rigstad was satisified to catch a 7- to 8-pound permit. Then, in his words, “I catch a really big permit.” After a 40 minute fight on his 8-weight, a twenty-seven pound fish was brought to the boat. Throw in some fresh barracuda ceviche, a few tarpon and an incident involving local authorities with machine guns and it sounds like a pretty memorable trip.
