A Fly Fisher’s “Life Report”
New York Times Op-Ed columnist David Brooks asked readers over 70 to submit their “life report” for possible publication in the newspaper. Among the respondents was 73-year-old Robert Roy, whose tale includes divorces, deaths, business successes and two unforgettable fishing moments. “… a ten pound steelhead exploding from the water, flipping over and engulfing my fly on a downward thrust back into river is unforgettable. I can still hear the screaming sound of my reel, the fly line being ripped from the spool and the image of the fish moving rapidly down the river.”
