Profile: Rod Builder Alan Kube
After reading Jack Howell’s book The Lovely Reed: An Enthusiast’s Guide to Building Bamboo Fly Rods a decade ago, Alan Kube fell in love with bamboo. He now builds around 15 rods per year. “Little by little, Kube learned each of the approximately 260 steps that go into the making of a good cane rod. Inspired by Homer Jennings, Steve Jenkins, Mike Clark and other regional rod builders, Kube mastered the process.” Karl Licis profiles Kube in this morning’s Denver Post.
