Video Hatch: First Recorded Marlin on Fly
Billfish pioneers Doc Robinson, Helen Robinson and Lefty Regan go fly fishing for striped marlin of the Baja coast in this vintage film from the IGFA archives. The clip includes some of the most incredible jump scenes captured on film.
Historical note: Regan and the Robinsons — who began experimenting with fly fishing for billfish in the 1960s — were the first to develop techniques for teasing billfish up to the boat before replacing the teaser with a fly.
