Fly Fishing for Permit in Roatan
Image via Wikipedia
I’ve been witness to plenty of permit hard-luck sagas, but Susan’s Cocking’s fishless streak ranks for visibility, if not longevity. Meanwhile, she does get to go to all the great permit fishing places, which for most of us is what it’s all about anyway.
“Gray skies obscure the permit’s visibility, but flat seas enhance its keen wariness of footfalls and fly line. Quietly wading the crunchy, shallow bottom, I noted that glassy water trumped dismal skies; we saw maybe a half-dozen permit but could not get close enough for a 50-foot cast before the tide went slack. Strike two.” In the Miami Herald.
