Henry's Fork Won't Be Victim of Idaho Parks Plan

As we reported on January 14, Idaho’s governor C.L. “Butch” Otter was considering eliminating the agency in charge of Harriman State Park, making it likely that public access to the Henry’s Fork would be lost. Now it seems the governor has changed tacks, and Harriman seems secure for the time being. “‘The fear has been, there’s too much of a tendency to look at state parks as a luxury,’ [Henry’s Fork Foundation director Steve] Trafton said. ‘In fact, parks are a critical part of the lives of many people and they generate a massive amount of revenue to the communities surrounding them.'” John Miller of the Associated Press.
