Sailfish Bite Big During Islamorada Fly Fishing Tournament
Apparently the same weather that has made near-shore fishing miserable this January has caused something of a frenzy in offshore fishing. Sandy Moret of Florida Keys Outfitters reports that the recent several days of fly fishing for sailfish have been some of the best on record. Tournament winners Tim and Robert Klein (extraordinary skiff guides during their day jobs) caught and released four sailfish during last week’s two-day 10th Annual Islamorada Sailfly Championship. The tournament brought 35 hook ups and 18 releases to 13 of the 20 teams during frigid weather.
