Chicago Crazy for Muskie
Denver may have its ISE, FFR and FFS, but only a town like Chicago, it seems, can do a show like the Chicago Muskie Show, which begins today at Harper College in Palatine. Forget the 1990s Web graphics — they somehow seem to fit the crowd — muskie fishing is getting a lot more attention these days from fly fishers. Robert Tomes, who will speak at the show Friday night, published a 240-page book on the subject of catching muskies on flies last year (it’s now the definitive souirce), and more and more videos and literature are cropping up daily.
It’s all got me wondering if teasing big muskie with six-inch flies isn’t the new carp fishing.
