RIO Adds Sinking Lines to MainStream® Series
RIO is adding two new lines to their MainStream fly line series: a sink-tip line that comes in four weights, and an intermediate line with a sink rate of between 1 1/2 and 2 inches per second. Both lines are designed for cold water, but the sink-tip line has a braided mono core, while the intermediate has a solid mono core and is designed for wary fish, particularly in lakes.

RIO Products introduces two new MainStream® sinking lines
IDAHO FALLS, July 1st, 2008 – RIO Products proudly announces the extension of the popular MainStream® series of lines.
The MainStream product range features a new series of 24 ft sinking tip lines for the angler that needs to fish deep. The 24 ft sink tip lines are available in 150, 200, 250 and 300 grain sizes and are recommended for rods between #5 and #8.
In addition, the MainStream range now includes a clear intermediate with a sink rate of between 11/2 and 2 inches per second (3.7 cm/s) and is available in sizes WF4 to WF10. The MainStream clear intermediate lines feature a short front taper that easily turns over larger flies.
The 24 ft MainStream sink tip line is one of the easiest casting sinking tips in the world. The fast sinking tip keeps flies deep in the current and are ideal for dredging or stripping streamers fast. An increase in weight and diameter just behind the sinking tip eliminates the characteristic “kick” that is normally associated with such lines. The floating body section is easy to mend and the visible lemon green color of the line makes it easy to control the fly’s swing. These lines are made with a supple, low memory braided multifilament core and a self lubricating, coldwater coating.
Designed predominantly as a lake line, the MainStream clear intermediate is ideal when stealth is required for wary, selective fish and in clear water. It is ideal for fishing in the top five feet of the water column and is also an excellent choice on windy days when anglers need to stay in touch with their flies. Made on a low memory, supple monofilament core the line has a highly durable coldwater coating.
Both series of MainStream lines are available from authorized RIO dealers and have a recommended retail price of $39.95.
