Hell's Bay Offers New Skiff
We noted back in November how Hell’s Bay‘s Chris Peterson had scrubbed and polished the company’s image after acquiring it at auction in December 2006 (see “The Return of Hell’s Bay Boatworks“). As if to confirm its staying power, the company is announcing a new model — a cross between the popular Marquesa and Guide 18 skiffs — that is yet a little beamier than anything they have built yet, even though Peterson claims it floats shallower. “‘It floats shallower than the Marquesa with a 6″ draft depending on how it’s rigged. The boat came about through interviews with our customers and guides wanting a bigger boat that could take rough water and be dry at the same time. The Boca Grande will take an outboard up to 130 hp.'” In Sport Fishing magazine.
