Stream Map USA Expands Coverage to 41 States

Imagine having detailed topographic maps showing even the hardest to find, river, lake or stream right at your fingertips. Now imagine getting immediate turn-by-turn driving directions to virtually any of these waters. You can have both with Stream Map USA.

Gogal Publishing Company announces the release of Stream Map USA’s Mountain South, and South Central editions. This release expands Gogal’s signature brand to 41 states, adding complete river, lake, and stream coverage of Tennessee, Kentucky, Mississippi, Alabama, Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Oklahoma.

Stream Map USA is the first, and only river, lake and stream map designed specifically for iPhones, iPads, and Androids It allows you to search for even the most obscure stream across multiple states, or limit your search by state or individual county. Once the desired stream is found, a simple touch of the map adds a waypoint and a “GO” button provides turn-by-turn driving directions right to your destination. When you arrive, the map follows your travels, showing your GPS location over a choice of roadmaps, satellite images, and high resolution topographic maps, all with custom stream overlays.

Stream Map USA approaches these stream overlays in a unique way. If you’ve ever spent time with a map, you know how frustrating it can be to find and follow a stream’s course. That’s because traditional maps always use the same blue line treatment for every stream. Each time two streams come together, you have to figure out which way your stream flows by tracing the blue lines and finding the right labels. In Stream Map USA, each river, lake, and stream is mapped in a unique color with all its tributaries shown in different colors. This makes it quick and easy to follow any stream from headwaters to mouth, and when you use the search function, even search results are color coded to match the stream color for easy identification.

Once you arrive on the water, Stream Map USA turns your mobile device into a handheld GPS, showing your location and following you as you travel. It even works without phone service. Along the way, you can mark, and save your favorite fishing holes, campsites, tree stands, scenic locations, or just about any point of interest you want as a GPS accurate waypoint. You can also add your own notes. Then navigate back to any of these waypoints by simply taping the “Target” button and using the app’s built-in field compass to point the way and count down the distance. It’s just like geocaching.

You can also check for up-to-date water conditions with Stream Map USA. The exact location of each USGS streams gauge is marked on the map. Tapping a stream gauge pin gives you instant access to real-time data on stream height, water flow, and other important conditions directly from the US Geological Survey’s National Water Information Service
