Podcast: “Ten Steps from Novice to Intermediate”

In his latest podcast, Tom Rosenbauer talks about “taking the next step in fly fishing” and describes the several things you can do to move beyond the beginner stage.

Tip number one? “Fish More. Now, we can’t all go on a trout-fishing trip. Some of us live hours from a good trout stream, or hours and hours from good saltwater fishing, but most of us have some kind of fly fishing very close to home. It’s probably going to be panfish, or bass, or carp. Whatever it is, find a place that’s close to home, and fish as much as you can.”

Good stuff.  Rechecking size and length  tippets was something I should do more.

Great advice.  I think fly fishing can be a lot like golf.  You have good days and bad days.  Then again, I’ve never seen anyone throw a fly rod.
