“Fly Fishing for Smallmouth Bass – The Nolichucky River”
“Part 2 of our recent mountain trip brought us to the Nolichucky River near the Tennessee border to chase some smallmouth bass on the fly.
This is only our second time fly fishing for smallmouth bass, and the fishing was less than stellar, but we learned so much from a certified smallmouth fishing guru, Terry. Terry had been a guide for decades on this river, targeting smallies on the fly with his hand-tied streamers. We learned his technique involved drifting large, dark flies downstream to imitate a hellgrammite, then stripping slowly upstream to imitate baitfish. And his superior knowledge showed, he outfished us 6 fish to 2!”
