Bikers Sue Over Greenback Closures
After a last remaining pure-strain population of Greenback Cutthroat trout were discovered in Colorado’s Bear Creek, the area’s trails were closed to dirt bikes per a court settlement to help protect this endangered fish. However, bikers are now suing the Forest Service, writes Scott Rappold via Out There Colorado, arguing there was not a “rational basis” for them to close the trails to motorcycles “while allowing other uses to not only continue, but increase, while leaving the trails in place to continue producing sediment.”
