Saving the Skykomish
A group of Washington residents have banded together to prevent the building of a dam and power plant on the state’s Skykomish River. The river, which is one of four “scenic rivers” in the state, as deemed by the legislature, is home to salmon, steelhead, and bull trout, among other threatened wildlife.
Opponents say that the $150 million project will produce less than 1% of utility’s energy profile. The group is about 1,000 signatures into its 10,000 signature goal.
