Best Wild Places: New Mexico's Gila Mountains
A couple of weeks ago Field & Stream‘s Kirk Deeter set off with photographers Kevin Cooley and Bridget Batch and TU staffers to explore and fish southwestern New Mexico’s Gila Mountains. So far Deeter has written about Day One and Day Two, both pieces being excellent reading if you like wild places and wild fish.
“Frankly, having never been here, I came prepared for dusty mountains and tumbleweed. What I found instead were vast glades of vibrant wildflowers, and lush green thickets through which flowed crystalline brooks. And more animals—bigger, stronger, and more numerous—than I had planned to see.”
