Monte Burke: The Flaws in PETA's Fish Arguments
In Forbes, Monte Burke talks about PETA’s “overcompensation” ad and argues that recreational fishermen — and in particular the groups funded by fly fishers — are essential to the survival of the fish stocks PETA believes suffer from catch-and-release.
“[T]hose who are engaged with a resource will fight the hardest to conserve it. Some pick up litter on the side of a stream. Some give hundreds of thousands of dollars to groups like the ASF or TU. Most operate somewhere in between. In this case—for the greater good of the species—the end does indeed justify the means.”
