South Platte Pro-Am Carp Slam
For the past several years TU Denver has made a big push to get funding for restoring the metro section of the South Platte River. One of the ways they’ve done it is to hold an annual “Pro Am Carp Slam,” which this year is being sponsored by Wells Fargo, Rio Fishing Products, Umpqua, Ross Fly Rods and Reels, Temple Fork Outfitters, and a host of other companies who see value in cleaning up Denver’s primary waterway.
The Carp Slam takes place this weekend, August 21-22, and there are still a few slots available.
The two-day event teams pros and amateurs, with the amateurs guaranteed some nice loot: Oakley sunglasses (valued at over $150), Rio fly line and leaders (valued at $85), a commemorative Carp Slam T-shirt and numerous other items. This year’s lunch time speaker will be Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper, who will speak about the city’s promotion and involvement in River South and River North.
