Christmas Island: Still Worth the Trip?
In the Houston Chronicle, Joe Doggett reports on his recent trip to distant Christmas Island — a popular bonefish destination that has seen its share of ups and downs.
“The coral atoll was discovered by English explorer Capt. James Cook on Christmas Eve in 1777. It is located 144 miles north of the equator, approximately 1,200 miles due south of Hawaii. Christmas Island is part of the Republic of Kiribati. And it also is part of fly-fishing legend.”
