Why Not Release Whitefish?

That’s the question Bruce Rich, Region 3 fisheries biologist for the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks asks when he finds dead whitefish that have been given the “Montana handshake.” Whitefish are, after all, a native species and don’t interfere with trout populations.
