How to Tie a Pheasant Rump Swing
A variation on Jason Taylor’s Pheasant Rump Deceiver, applied to a Swing Style (Shank/Stinger Hook) rig for fishing down and across.
The fly features 2 sparse bucktail stabilizer wings which do just that, stabilize the fly and control the orientation of the hook. This allows the hook to be tucked back into the wing and ride hook point up – combined that with the fact that there is no lead eyes or coneheads to get wedged between rocks, this fly can get down and dirty without the hangups.
The wings and hook eye orientation tilt the fly up and allow for a Full Bodied silhouette on the swing, and help to catch current and swim the fly.
