“A Time for Tungsten”
“Different types of bead metals do different things. Tungsten is the heaviest metal readily available to fly fishers. While there are different sizes of beads available most fly fishers rely on conventional sizing charts to match bead size to hook size. This isn’t always the best case: sizing beads based on what you need that fly to do, the depth fished, flow of water, and how spooky the trout you’re targeting quickly come into consideration in how much of a “splat factor” your nymph can have on the water’s surface and how it behaves while drifting. This scene shares on situation where you can easily get away with tungsten and a beautiful brown trout comes to hand thanks to its use.”
