Al Troth Passes
Creator of pattern standards such as the Elk Hair Caddis, Al Troth has passed away in Dillon, Montana. Where, after relocating his family from Pennsylvania in 1973, he made his living as a guide, fly tier, and maker of treestands. And as well as being a noted photographer and writer, he was a Navy veteran and distinguished marksman with the Montana National Guard. Troth’s innovative work truly has left its lasting mark on the fly fishing world, and he will be missed.
