McGuane Talks Novels, Ranching and Fishing
Identity Theory’s Robert Birnbaum interviewed Thomas McGuane in May 2002. At that time, McGuane’s “Cadence of Grass” was just out, but the interviewer covers the gamut of topics, from Japanese literature to the superabundance of fishing books:
Thomas: Fishing is the most published subject outside mathematics there is. Did you know that?
Robert: No. Why is that?
Thomas: Just because it?s such a non-directional daydreamer?s game. It bites at the language process.
