Registration Opens for Costa Del Mar™ 2 Fly X-Stream Fishing Competition at Teva Mountain Games 2009
Vail, Colo. – March 31, 2009 – Once again, it’s time for amateur and professional fly anglers alike to vie for the Costa Del Mar™ 2 Fly X-Stream Fishing Competition title at the 2009 Teva Mountain Games. Registration is now open for the first 75 anglers to sign up at www.tevamountaingames.com, with the competition taking place June 6 – 7 in the cold water fisheries in and around Vail.
This year’s expanded field of competitors will start with two qualifying rounds of accuracy casting competitions on land. The top 20 anglers will advance to the on-water competition, and will have the opportunity to utilize two fly patterns of their choice. The best eight fishermen will move on to the final round on Sunday.
The angler with the most total points, based on fish count and size, will win the grand prize of $1,000. Second and third place prizes will also be given, along with an award for the catch and release of the largest fish; with a total fishing prize purse of $3,000. The top eight finalists will score Costa sunglasses and other Costa gear.
The entry fee is $25 per person, and is open to the first 75 anglers to register.
“The field is wide open right now, and this competition is going to be a great test to find out who’s the top fly angler around,” said Chas MacDonald, president of Costa Del Mar. “It’s going to be two days’ worth of some of the most dedicated fly fishing the Teva Mountain Games has ever seen.”
