Fortress Lake Lodge | Canadian Rockies
Fortress Lake Lodge sits dead-center in the Canadian Rockies—you can’t beat the scenery, nor the numbers of solid brook trout you’ll catch here. Expect brookies ranging between 14 and 20 inches, all taken from gorgeous turquoise water with towering mountains and hanging glaciers overhead. You can fish from dawn to dusk and the brook trout are never farther away than a short five-minute hike. Overall, this is just pure fishing fun, and the lodge’s super remote location ensures a unique, very private experience.

To reach Fortress Lake Lodge, guests climb aboard a helicopter at Cline River, Alberta and enjoy a breathtaking 30-minute flight. Guests stay in private guest cabins and relax with fellow anglers in a giant Pacific Yurt, which serves as the lounge, dining area . . . and de facto storytelling arena. A wood-burning stove keeps the yurt comfortably warm.
