Hardy & Greys Set Up U.S. Operation
Continuing demand and strong sales growth for the company’s products has encouraged Hardy & Greys Ltd to set up their second international subsidiary after the successful launch of the Hardy & Greys GmbH in 2007.
This new subsidiary company, based in Lancaster, Pennsylvania will support the company’s expansion into the Unites States market.
Jim Murphy, the new President of Hardy North America has brought in a team of merchants who have considerable experience in the fishing business in the states. His new team are set to join the organisation over the next few weeks.
Steve Krewson, most recently the Assistant Buyer and Planner for hunting and fishing at The Sports Authority will be the Head of Operations. Steve has managed the logistics and assortment for the largest sports retailer in the US and brings a practical knowledge that will help us manage significant growth while maintaining a first class Customer Service and Operations Department.
Ray Zink is the Marketing Manager. He has been the merchant at Hodgeman for the last three years. Ray has vast experience in developing successful assortments of products and delivering them to the market place with a program that is reliable and relevant. His contacts in both the specialty trade and the multi doors will suit HNA’s strategy to carefully manage the different retail channels for both Hardy and Greys.
Steve Tatarchuk has joined the team as Regional Business Manager. Steve has been the buyer of outdoor products for Sierra Trading Post for the last two years. Prior to that position he was a sales manager in a prominent software firm. Steve has had the rare privilege of witnessing what products have worked and what have travelled the back road to mark downs and brings to the team an ability to deliver a sales program that is analytical and accurate.
Crosby Beane is the Regional Business Manager for the Eastern states. He is the co-founder and Manager of Breckenridge Outfitters in Colorado for the last fifteen years. Crosby brings the real world experience of running a very successful fly shop and extensive guide service. He knows what we will need to do to become a successful partner for the specialty shops.
All of the members of the Hardy North America team have been fishing for at least fifteen years, and collectively they each bring their experience and enthusiasm both on the water and in the trade to a market place that is increasingly challenging to help build the next generation of the fishing business in the U.S.
Cortland will continue to distribute Hardy products in the United States until the end of October 2008. It is the intention of Hardy & Greys Ltd to announce the details of the 2009 dealer programme at this year’s Fly Fishing Retailer Show at Denver in September.
