Law Firm Sues Orvis Over Catalog Picture
Claiming that Orvis was intentionally misleading customers about its ownership of a patent that expired 119 years ago, a Texas company formed by the law firm F&P, LLC is suing Orvis for $500 and requesting they review patent violations going back five years. The patent was issued to Charles F. Orvis, the founder of the Orvis company, for a fly reel in 1874. “‘It’s just another trivial lawsuit in an age of trivial lawsuits,’ said James Hathaway, a spokesman for Orvis.” Keith Whitcomb Jr. in the Bennington Banner.
