The Trico Dance

Ed Engle writes of the awe inspired by Tricorythodes swarms. “What really distinguishes the tiny trico is that it hatches almost every morning from mid-June to September in astronomical numbers. Or more precisely, the females hatch every morning in astronomical numbers and are then joined by the males, who have already hatched in astronomical numbers overnight and are waiting patiently in the grass for mates.
