California's "Thin Green Line" to Get Even Thinner?
California sportsmen are questioning a budget proposal that includes lowering the number of game wardens even further. As almost everyone agrees, there are already too few game wardens in many states — a fact that discourages the passage of conservation laws because they are “unenforceable.” “One warden (who will remain anonymous) said the California Department of Fish and Game hardly has anyone to answer calls for service through the CalTIP program (reports of poaching or wildlife endangerment) and can only answer 1-in-4 CalTIP calls. This can only lead to our resources being decimated by poachers, who operate without fear of repercussion.” Gary Roussan in the Willets News.
