Parasol Black Beauty Midge: Great Technique for Rising Trout

Producer: McFly Angler

“The Parasol is not a particular fly, but a technique in that you attach a fluff of floating type material (foam or fiber) above a fly using mono to hold it up off the fly a bit. Just like a Parachute fly isn’t any specific pattern, but just a way to tie a fly. The Parasol is to midges, as the Parachute is to dry flies. This turns just about any midge into an emerger. But unlike most emergers, which ride somewhat on the water film, a parasol will keep the fly sitting below the water slightly, making it one of the first things a trout sees when it comes to rise.”
